Sunnyhill Restoration Area is centered around 9 miles of channel and the surrounding wetlands of the upper Oklawaha River, with many trail s and levee roads for wildlife exploration and observation.
Indulge in mother nature by taking a bike ride, a hike or even just a leisurely walk through the tranquil paths of Sunnyhill Restoration.
Sunnyhill Restoration Area is home to more than 3,000 types of birds from glossy and white ibis, snowy egrets, little blue and tricolored herons, to anhigans which nest in the area in the spring. In the summer time, black-necked stilts, purple gallinules and least bitterns make this area their nesting place. An assortment of duck species can also be found in the area, from ring necked ducks, wood ducks, blue winged and teal winged ducks to buffleheads, northern shovelers, hooded mergansers and northern pintails. Even in the winter time, the area is home to more than 10,000 sandhill cranes, not to mention the other inhabitants of the areas such as the black bear, river otter and the bobcat. With so much wildlife in the paths of the Sunnyhill Restoration Area, a simple walk, hike or bike ride can turn into a wonderful precious outdoor moment.
